Two Things for Christmas…

If you’re looking to capture something at the heart of Christmas this year, here are two things you can do.

First, get a Christmas Crib. The tradition of a Christmas crib goes back to St Francis of Assisi, who used local people to play the Nativity characters in Greccio, Italy, in the 13th century. Soon afterwards, carved wooden figures began to be used in Christian homes as a reminder of the Christmas story.

Christmas cribs are easy to buy in local shops or online and give a special focus to our homes as we prepare for Christmas. Place your crib somewhere prominent, so it becomes a constant reminder of this joyous season.

Second, say a Grace at your Christmas meal. Whether you are celebrating with family and friends or enjoying a quieter Christmas, a grace is a simple prayer of thanksgiving for life and sustenance at this time of year:

“Dear Lord, we give thanks to you for this Christmas meal and for the people who are dear to us. As we reflect on the joys and struggles of the past year, may we find comfort in the promise of your great love. This Christmas, give us light and hope in the birth of Jesus Christ. Amen.”

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet in 12 different church buildings across the Vale of Glamorgan - here's the list.

There are no rules when it comes to choosing which church to visit. Some people attend the church that's closest to where they live, others choose one that's important to them. Whichever you visit, you can be sure of a warm welcome.

Accessibility: Most of our church buildings have wheelchair access. Gileston is our only building that has only steps for access. Audio induction loops are available in most church buildings.

Toilets are available in our buildings in Llantwit Major, Southerndown and Ewenny.
